Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until now. In February of 2020, she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. The family relied on food deliveries from an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran says that her father was drunk who did her mother a disservice and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic primary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after failing several courses during her first year.
